Details: *** Manager, Coding incumbent can be located anywhere within the U.S. with a preference to be located in Nashville or Southern California ***The Manager of Coding is responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Post-Acute Segment Coding Team and to ensure, through programs of education, auditing, support and evaluation, appropriate coding processing practices throughout the organization. The Manager will oversee a team of coding professionals and a Team Lead who will interact regularly with employed physicians, nurse practitioners, and contracted providers. The Manager will participate in implementation and on-going operations meetings with clients to ensure coding practices are consistent, accurate and compliant with client protocols. Will provide coding and coding auditing services directly to providers.Primary Responsibilities:Provides leadership and direction to the Post-Acute Coding Supervisors, Team Leads, Certified Coders and other associatesRecruits, develops, provides leadership to a team of certified medical codersInteracts regularly with clients to resolve differences in coding audits and in the development of coding and reporting protocols for applicable contractsDevelops a resource platform for the Coding Department that houses policies, procedures, best practices and various points of informationWorks with others to periodically analyze coding data to identify coding variations and determine the cause and the appropriateness of such variation and presents such findings to appropriate business leadersDevelops and delivers programs and educational content that ensures that coders code in a manner consistent with relevant laws, regulations and standardsSupports coding processing efforts in periods of extreme backlogPrepares and provides Department budgets to senior managementAssists the organization in reviews relating to internal or external investigations and inquiriesEnsures that members of the coding team perform their job functions competently in a manner consistent with the Company�s Mission, Vision and ValuesSets department goals and conducts performance evaluations for members of the Coding DepartmentMonitors changes in law, policy and coding guidelines and advises senior management on the impact of those changesAssist with developing Risk Adjustment education and training curriculum for field-based clinicians providing direct care for patients; including new-hire orientation and on-going training and educationConduct Encoder Pro training for field-based cliniciansConduct analysis and translation of medical and clinical diagnoses, procedures, injuries, or illnesses into designated numerical codesManager will travel approximately 20% of time.OptumHealth is part of the family of companies that make UnitedHealth Group one of the leaders across most major segments of the US health care system.OptumHealth helps nearly 60 million Americans live their lives to the fullest by educating them about their symptoms, conditions and treatments; helping them to navigate the system, finance their health care needs and stay on track with their health goals.
